• Voronoi-cells disperse energy into the edges, this 'fluid' is distributed through the network of edges.
• The energy-fluid in the adjacent edges is absorbed back by the Voronoi-cells who expand or shrink.
The idea is that sharper corners in the edge-network slow down and acute angles (<90°) even block the distribution of the fluid. As such a self-regulating system emerges. Think of logic gates in an electric circuit.
The complexity of no, wide, sharp and acute corners + the relative size of the Voronoi-cells who release the fluid causes some adjacent edges to be filled with fluid while others stay empty, cells: expand or contract. Orange-Small / Blue-Big.
Note: The fluid comes from the pressure generated by the synchronised oscillations of the small-blue & large-white particles that form a Voronoi mesh.
A pressure buildup is distributed throughout the Voronoi-network (fluid) at the peak of each expansion.
